An Open Letter 4 Years Long
Dear Mr President-
Technically, I should be calling you Mr. President-Elect, but seeing as you receive more security briefings and give more press conferences than the sitting President, I think everyone will know to whom I write. If you like, I will address you as Mr. Almost-President until January 20th.
I am embarking on a project, and I intend to use you as a foil. Every day I see or hear something and wonder what it means for you and your presidency-and for me. I imagine suggestions I would like to make, questions I would like to ask, and warnings I wish I could give. Obviously you’re pretty busy, and already thouroughly advised, so I thought I would just write you a letter. It will be an ongoing, open letter that you can read any time, and that other people can comment on and contribute to.
I’m hoping this project helps us both. For my part, I need a place to diffuse some of the worry and hope running through my life. As for you, well, maybe if I start collecting all the things I want to say, other people will join in, and then all our thoughts can band together and make it to you over the ambient noise. After all, as Ill Doctrine said, you will be our employee for the next four years.
The good news is, for the first time in my life, I’m happy with the guy we hired.
Sincereley,
Molly
